WHO GRADES YOUR DIAMONDS?

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA), touted as the world’s foremost authority in Gemology, grades our Fancy Color Diamonds based its hue, tone, and saturation.  A Diamond’s color may be classified as: Light, Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Intense, Fancy Deep, Fancy Dark, or Fancy Vivid.

HOW RARE ARE FANCY COLOR DIAMONDS?

Out of the approximately 110 million carats of Diamonds mined each year, only 2,000 carats will become cut and polished Fancy Color Diamonds.  To contribute to their scarcity, China and India have become major diamond markets in recent years.  The resulting worldwide demand has exceeded the production rate.

WHERE ARE FANCY COLOR DIAMONDS PRODUCED?

Diamonds are produced on most major continents in Canada, Venezuela, Brazil, Central and South Africa, Russia, China, India, and Australia.  However, few mines that have opened up in the last 5 years are able to produce a sufficient supply of Fancy Color Diamonds.  The Cullinan Mine in South Africa, the world’s producer of Blue Diamonds, halted production in 2005 and Argyle mine in Australia is expected to do the same in the next 5-10 years.  The Argyle Mine produces 95% of the world’s Fancy Pinks and Fancy Reds, as well as “Champagne” and “Cognac” Color Diamonds.

The rarest and most sought after Fancy Diamonds are the Fancy Vivid: Red, Blue, Orange, Green, and Pink Diamonds.

WHY BUY FANCY COLOR DIAMONDS?

When demand exceeds supply, either the supply or the value of the asset must increase to balance the demand.  We are living in a historical moment where the supply of Natural Fancy Diamonds cannot accommodate for its demand.  A number of Diamond mines ceased production in the last decade and there are no new mines available to maintain dwindling production rates.  Many owners of Natural Fancy Color Diamonds expect to benefit enormously from the great potential of a resulting appreciation in their value.

WHICH FANCY COLOR DIAMONDS WOULD MOST ATTRACT INVESTORS?

Fancy Pink Diamonds are poised to show investors strong profit potential in the coming years.  The Argyle Mine in Australia is only able to produce a limited supply of investment quality Pink Diamonds each year and demand is at an all-time high.

Fancy Yellow Diamonds also have excellent profit potential.   Their worldwide popularity has increased dramatically along with their value.  Future auction results for Fancy Vivid Yellows are expected to show a substantial rise in price.
